Welcome to No More Zombie Veterans

Started in 2021, No More Zombie Veterans is a veteran-led campaign fighting the Australian Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) to approve effective, evidence-based treatments for Australian veterans living with treatment-resistant Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

Many veterans have found that traditional pharmaceutical treatments fail to provide meaningful relief. In some cases, these medications can cause serious side effects, impact quality of life, or increase the risk of long-term harm. Medicinal cannabis, prescribed legally under the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), works with the bodies endocannabinoid system (ECS) and shows promising results — helping to improve sleep, reduce anxiety, erase traumatic memories and support emotional regulation.

Despite this, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) refuses to approve veterans using medicinal cannabis for their treatment resistant PTSD or TBI. This leaves veterans and their families facing out-of-pocket costs, inconsistent access, legal problems and a return to treatments that have already been proven ineffective and harmful for them. Our campaign aims to change this by encouraging policy reform grounded in science, clinical experience, and compassion.
